There are a series of charming and picturesque towns not far from Mexico City known as the 'Colonial Circle'. Built in early Spanish times and spaced 24 miles apart, they were funded by immense silver deposits and are host to a rich history and culture. Delightful cobbled streets, wonderful churches and historic guest houses, great food and amazing scenery await you on this tour where driving distances are short allowing a maximum time to enjoy each unique stop. For a treat, we encourage you to consider staying in the delightful boutique hotels which ooze ambience and history. This is the real Mexico!

Day 1: Arrive Mexico City > Queretaro > San Miguel de Allende Drive to Queretaro for morning sightseeing in the historic centre. Continue on to San Miguel de Allende in the afternoon

Day 2: San Miguel de Allende > Dolores Hildago > Guanajuato Morning visit to Dolores Hildago, birthplace of Mexican independence. Continue on in the afternoon to Guanajuato, a quaint maze of alleyways and plazas.

Day 3: Guanajuato > Zacatecas Visit UNESCO listed heritage town of Zacatecas and enjoy its amazing Baroque style.

Day 4: Zacatecas > Guadalajara Continue to the state capital of Guadalajara, birthplace of tequila and the Mariachi. Visit Tiaquepapque en-route, considered one of the finest handicraft towns in all Mexico

Day 5: Guadalajara > Tequila > Guadalajara Morning sightseeing in Guadalajara. Afternoon visit to the nearby town of Tequila and a local distillery.

Day 6: Guadalajara > Patzcuaro On to one of the best, lakeside Patzcuraro, with its historic churches and quaint old town.

Day 7: Patzcuaro > Morelia > Mexico City Travel to the UNESCO listed Morelia, famous for its magnificent Spanish colonial architecture. Arrive Mexico City early evening.

Booking conditions

Tour operates with a minimum of 2 passengers travelling. A surcharge applies over Easter and on special festival dates. World Journeys can provide accommodation before or after the tour. Please do not plan to depart Mexico city before 9pm on day 7.
